Why this exists

Several machines on one desk, and everything between them goes out through the internet first.

Drawings and interim builds	Reaching the next desk means uploading to a server or drive, then downloading again
Between your own laptop, phone and tablet	Links, verification codes and screenshots, messaged to yourself or routed through cloud storage
Moving to cloud storage	Internal drawings and code end up on third-party servers

None of this is difficult, but it repeats many times a day. ClipRaft removes the middle step: copy, then paste on another device.

Setup

A pairing code is valid for five minutes and feeds into the key calculation: substituting a public key on the same network still cannot derive the key.

Put the devices on one network, enter an 8-digit code on each, and leave it alone.

On the first device

Enter a group name and click Create a New Group
The name is visible only to you.
Click Add Device
An 8-digit pairing code appears, formatted XXXX-XXXX.

On each new device

Enter the code under Add to an Existing Group
Click Join, then Allow on the first device. Several devices can be added while the window is open.

What it does

Text, images, files.

Text and images you copy are pushed to every device in the group. Files are point-to-point: pick one device, and the file lands in its downloads folder, renamed on collision, never overwriting.

What it doesn't do

Same Wi-Fi, or wired into the same router, both count as one local network.

All devices have to be on the same local network.

Neither other network segments nor the internet will work. That is a deliberate trade: without a server, the privacy question changes from whether you trust an operator to whether the content ever left your network.

Phones need a tap.

Phone systems allow neither background clipboard reads nor long-lived apps. So on a phone you pull down and tap once: content sent from a computer is held on the sending side until you fetch it. Writing to the clipboard is unrestricted, which makes computer-to-phone the smoother direction.
